Wise Words from Gary Vaynerchuk

Wise Words from Gary Vaynerchuk

Wise words from Gary Vaynerchuk that I will remember for a lifetime.

On a visit to New York I had the honour of meeting Gary Vaynerchuk, aka Gary Vee a successful entrepreneur at his Hudson Yards office. If you don’t know who Gary is, here is a brief bio.

Vaynerchuk immigrated to the United States in 1978, and moved with his family to Edison, New Jersey. After graduating from Mount Ida College in Newton, MA, he transformed his father’s Springfield, Union County, New Jersey liquor store into a retail wine store named Wine Library, and in 2006 started the video blog , a daily internet webcast on the subject of wine.

In August 2011, Vaynerchuk announced he would be stepping away from his daily wine video series to focus his attention on VaynerMedia, the social media brand consulting agency he co-founded in the Spring of 2009. Vaynerchuk describes social media as a cocktail party, where brands must be a part of conversations that people have.

In June 2016 Gary Vaynerchuk started his partnership with a sports agency to create VaynerSports to add his social media and digital agency zest to sports athletes career and future.

Wise words from Gary Vaynerchuk that I will remember for a lifetime.

This is how my meeting with Gary came about. I posted this long post on Instagram — look out for it Instagram.com/2SonsMarketing

I have been following @GaryVee and his work for over 3 years and consuming his content and applying his strategies and ideas to my life and business.

He first appeared on my InstaFeed, 10 February 2016 as I reposted one of his posts (see post below) I would go on to share 15 more of his posts and quotes during 2016.

Gary-Vee-2-Sons-Marketing-Instagram

While on a trip to New York I had the privilege of meeting Gary Vaynerchuk in person, at his office in Hudson Yards, the date, 30 September 2016.

During our brief encounter Gary’s crew was filming.

13 October 2016, I am back in Sydney, Australia and a GaryVee video appears on my Facebook feed. The title of this video, Be Comfortable With Yourself | DailyVee 076, as I watched the video I realised what I was watching was the day I had visited VaynerMedia. To my surprise I too was in the video. My brief meeting, book signing and photo opportunity made it on his video.

Gary-Vaynerchuk-Sergio-Garcia-Vayner-Media

I share this with you not to impress you, but to impress upon you the power of social media, influence and hunger. To understand that social media has made the world a smaller place. To believe that anything is possible if you work hard and really believe in yourself. You create your own luck with hustle.

A special shout to @marionelenag and @deisnuts for making it happen and @GaryVee for his valuable time, insights and care.

#ItsTimeToDo is my new mantra • Thank You Gary.

Although the meeting was brief, neither he or I thought he would be available as he is extremely busy traveling, doing Keynote gigs and running a very successful business. What I did get out of this meeting was one very important piece of advise. But before we get to that piece of advice, I had explained to Gary what I was doing, what my business was doing, how badly I wanted to succeed, and all the content I had consumed that led me to his office, and ultimately to meet him, the one person that I knew could push me harder than I could ever be pushed.

That piece of advise, It’s time to do! #ItsTimeToDo — Enough with all the reading, listening and watching. Drive forward on your passion and you will succeed. Would you agree that these are Wise Words from Gary Vaynerchuk? So my advice to anyone who wants to start their own business, or follow their dreams is this. If you do what you love, and really hustle, I mean work hard each and every day you will succeed.

8 Real Ways to Promote Your Business on Social Media

8 Real Ways to Promote Your Business on Social Media

Getting started with social media marketing can be a bit scary, so here are 8 real tips for promoting your business on social networks.

Over the last 10 years, social media has gone from a new idea to an absolute must for marketers. Of all the new media marketing platforms, social has turned traditional marketing on its head.

On social media, customers and businesses can directly interact. Both parties can ask each other questions, repost each other’s content and work on forming relationships. Here’s 8 ways to use social media effectively.

1. Choose the Right Platforms
There is no shortage of social media sites on which to share your content. The number of sites is growing every day. Sharing your content on the right platforms is crucial to your success.
When determining which channels to use, you should consider your customers and your business. It’s important that you create accounts on the platforms your target audience uses, so they can easily connect with you. Conduct some research to determine what sites your audience probably uses, and then use them too.
You should also consider which sites best fit your products. For a video production company, for example, YouTube is an obvious choice.

2. Create a Calendar
Scrambling to create posts at the last minute can lead to low-quality content. A lack of organisation can lead to repeated posts or a lull in your presence on one of your channels. Creating social media content calendars can help avoid those mistakes and lead to more effective posts. Content calendars also help you create goals and strategies for meeting them, and track your progress toward them.
To make a content calendar, use a regular calendar for each social media channel and plan out your posts in advance, complete with hashtags, links, images and other content.

3. Encourage Engagement
Social media should, of course, be social. That doesn’t only apply to those who use the sites for fun. Businesses need to be interactive, too. In order to take advantage of social capability, you need to encourage interaction.
Post content that people want to read, ask questions and like, repost and comment on other users’ posts. Doing research on your audience can help you figure out what they might like.

4. Don’t Over-Promote
One trap that businesses often fall into is treating social media too much like regular advertising. You don’t want to blatantly promote yourself in every post. You need to create content that people will actually enjoy and want to see.
Promoting yourself is okay every once in a while. Some marketers go by the one-in-seven rule, which says that for every one directly promotional post, six others should be content-based. In these other six posts, you could share articles, comment on current events or ask a question. You don’t have to entirely avoid mentioning your brand in these posts; just be careful not to sell too hard.

5. Share Video
Visual content works well on social media. Video content, especially, is ideal for grabbing people’s attention as well as conveying your personality and passion to your customers.
Visual content stands out as people scroll through their social feeds, so they’re more likely to view it and engage with it. It also allows you to say more than you could in a typical post without taking up much room. Create interesting, narrative-driven video in order to get the best reaction.

6. Address Problems Quickly
Hopefully you receive mostly positive feedback on social media. Occasionally you may encounter someone who is upset, argumentative or has something negative to say about your company.
You should carefully monitor mentions of your brand on social channels, so you can catch issues before they escalate. If you spot a problem, engage with the person by publicly apologising if necessary and offering to solve the problem over a direct message exchange. This way, people who see the post know you were responsive but don’t have to see all the specifics of the issue.

7. Build a Community
Instead of trying to get as many followers as possible, focus on finding customers who are interested, loyal and engaged. These people are more likely to repost your content, like your posts and become customers.
When you build a community around your brand, the people within that community will engage with each other and help to promote your content. You could even try reaching out to exceptionally influential social media users and asking them to help you by reviewing a product or mentioning you in a post.

8. Provide Value
Perhaps the most important thing you can do on social media is provide value to your followers. Create something that your audience will find useful. It could be something that tells them something they didn’t know before, makes them laugh, entertains them or anything else that’s beneficial in some way.
This aspect of social media is what attracts the right customers to your business, makes people want to follow you on social sites and helps content to spread. Master this, and you’ll be a big step closer to a successful social media marketing campaign.
With nearly 3 billion active users, social media is a potential goldmine of new customers and current patrons who could become repeat customers. Create a good social campaign, and you’ll be able to connect with some of those people and grow your customer base.

Why Small Business Cant Do Social Media

Why Small Business Cant Do Social Media

Here’s why small business can’t manage their own social media.

Just to clear things up before we go through the 12 tasks of a social media manager, these 12 tasks really do need to be done correctly, diligently and consistently.

Let’s be honest!

Yes, you can manage your own business social media accounts… if you have time!

But you don’t! Here’s why.

Most, if not all business owners work extremely long hours.

They wear many hats during their work day; owner, employer, cleaner, customer service manager, booking agent, accountant, banker, and that’s just during business hours.

After hours may look like this; parent, partner, friend, chef, teacher and maid.

So although you could, if you wanted to, manage your own social media instead of outsourcing it – you don’t because you don’t have the time to do these 12 things!

1.Curating

Depending on the type of content you share on social media, curating can take up a lot of your time. Discovering and new content from others takes time to source, read and understand.

2. Crafting

Now that you have found new content to share, you need to work out how to share it. How to reword or recreate the content for your audience can be tricky, but does get easier the more you practice it.

3. Posting

This part can get tedious quite quickly. Logging on to each social media network and posting on a regular basis sounds easy, but if you are posting three times per day on two or more networks you could lose quality time on your business.

4. Scheduling

The next step from posting is scheduling. This means writing your updates ahead of time and having the content ready to share on your social media networks. Depending how far ahead you like to plan will determine how much of the your day you spend scheduling.

5. Measuring

Once all your updates or posts go live you can look at the metrics for each post. How many clicks, how many likes, or how many shares? You will need to know what metrics are important to you before you begin.

6. Analysing

From your metrics you can now look even closer and make decisions or change your strategy for the future. Simple changes to consider, is the time of the post or update. By Measuring and Analysing frequently you can see what and why certain things are working.

7. Responding

People like to deal with people and as we have said in the past, Social is Human. You must dedicate at least some part of your day to respond to your audience.

8. Listening

You will also need to time to listen to the conversations on social media about your business/brand. If you use Twitter you can use the “Mentions” tool and gauge how many times you get mentioned.

9. Engaging

This is the part you get to engage your community and other accounts. Use chats or comments, like, follow or retweet content from others.

10. Helping

From time to time others will come to you with problems or questions. If you are the customer service guru, you will have to respond. It’s best to respond in real time, as it happens.

11. Planning

You will need a social media plan. Without it you could be wasting your time. Look at short, mid and long term objectives.

12. Testing

Testing times, content, networks. We have read many articles and listened to many “social media gurus” and at the end of the day, no one has the magic bullet! You need to test all your ideas and see how they work for your business. Testing involves the other 11 tasks on this list and it is as important as the rest.

Social Media Customer Service

Social Media Customer Service

According to a recent infographic by CallCenterhosting.com here are their 8 Tips for Social Media Customer Service.

According to the data included in this new listing from CallCenter Hosting, 80% of consumers now use social platforms to engage with brands. Social media is faster than traditional telephone outreach, can be more responsive, and is available on the platforms where people are increasingly spending their time. In combination, the data shows that customers want your business to be providing some level of support via these networks.
It’s time to meet them where they’re at.

Customers Love Going Social

90% of consumers use social media to communicate with brands
63%  of consumers are satisfied with the response time in social media
59% of people with social media accounts believe that social media has made customer service more accessible
54% of Social Browsers use social media to research products
According to Forrester Research 80% of consumers use social media to engage with brands.

What is Social media customer service?

Social media customer services the practice of providing good quality customer support through various social media channels such as FacebookTwitter and Instagram.
The benefits of investing in Social Care for Customer Service are-
SALES: Companies developing social care capabilities grew revenue per contact by 6.7% versus a 12.1% decline for those without that capability.
SAVINGS: It costs as little as $1 to solve a customer issue on social media, which is nearly one-sixth that of many call centre interactions.
SATISFACTION: Top notch social care companies improved customer satisfaction by 19 percent, versus 5 percent for all other factors.

8 Tips for Social Media Customer Service

  1. Respond Faster – Integrate customer service platforms to turn social media posts, messages, and tweets into tickets. Give highest priority to technical problems, complaints and product issues for quick resolutions.
  2. Be Proactive – Once mutually connected with customers, send them regular updates such as new offers, discounts, about services and more, changes in pricing plan, and other helpful information.
  3. Personalised Services – No one wants to hear a generic response. #SocialisHuman . Make customer service interactions human and personable, not robotic and automated.
  4. Empathise with Customers – Firstly, understand the customer’s purpose, detect their tone of voice, and then use collated information to reply with empathy.
  5. Don’t always Auto-Respond – Auto-responses destroy the purpose of personalisation. Instead, create different templates for common inquiries.
  6. Stick to the Right Channel – Be available to your customers on the right social media channel and address their needs accordingly. For example, on LinkedIn, you need more professional approaching comparison to other channels like Facebook and Instagram.
  7. Take Things Online – Sometimes, agents need sensitive customer information or are not allowed to write long reply. In those cases, transfer the conversation to other channels like, phone or email with a friendly and helpful tone.
  8. Maintain Consistency – Provide customers the same level of quality, accuracy, and professionalism on social media as on phone and email.

Every Small Business needs a Social Media Manager

Every Small Business needs a Social Media Manager

Why your Small Business needs to use a Social Media Manager!

We have been asked on numerous occasions, “Why should I use Social Media Manager?” So todays post will address the importance of Social and your Business.

Here are some Social Media Tips that can help you avoid a fail on Social Media.

Let’s be frank.

Social Media Marketing is a powerful brand building tool – but only if it’s done right. Managing Social Media is a full time job. You need to know how to use the power of Social Media.

You need to create content, manage this content, engage the audience. If that doesn’t keep you busy, you need to find time to network and connect with others on Social. As a business owner you have limited time and resources. This is why it’s best to outsource your Social Media Marketing.

It’s hard to let go and not try and do it all yourself. After all it is your business and you know it better than anyone. Let’s look at the cost involved. Do a Google search of  “Social Media agency rates” and you will be flooded with all sorts of agencies offering all sorts of plans and monthly fees. This is the tricky part. How do you value the spend on Social Media Marketing?

Ok, let’s look at it this way. When you hire a Social Media Manager or agency, like ours, you’re hiring those of us that have the time to specifically address your Social Media needs.

We are not distracted by staff issues, payroll, ordering stock, and other tasks you look after each and every day at your business.

We also have the systems in place to create and manage your Social and Digital presence. You may be considering hiring an office junior to look after your Social?

Do they have the experience and maturity to handle Social?

How long before the “office junior” starts handling other “work” related tasks?

Have they got the time or interest to keep up with the ever-changing face of Social?

We feel these are all valid questions you must ask yourself.

Social Media isn’t always about the numbers. There are services where you can buy Followers or Likes. Buying Followers and Likes does not help your business. You need real people to Follow and Like you. Because these are the people that will SHARE your content to others, most likely friends and family. Then the same process continues.

So buying 10,000 Followers or Likes from some obscure country doesn’t help at all. BUT, gaining 100 Followers and Likes from people who share your content is far more valuable. This one simple “TIP” may have saved you only $50.00 for the purchase of the 10,000 Followers

– But it has saved you months of frustration and worry over why these 10,000 Followers have not converted to any SALES!  While many small businesses understand how important Social Media Marketing is to there business , they also tend to think, “anyone can do it”  By hiring a Social Media Manager you can gain the lead on your competition and be seen as the authority in your field. More importantly Google now recognises social media rankings. which means that a popular and exposed brand on Facebook, Google+ and Twitter, or other Social Media platforms may boost your websites search rankings, giving you a BIGGER advantage over the competition.

This was your second free tip! 🙂 Social Media isn’t just a “fun” thing we play with during down time or on weekends. It’s the “must have” tool in your small business tool belt. Just like one of your staff, or that piece of equipment that you use every day to generate income.

How to Not fail on Social Media

How to Not fail on Social Media

How to avoid a social media fail!

Here are some Social Media Tips that can help you avoid a fail on Social Media.

Ok before we begin we need to understand that Social Media Marketing is very important to your small business and should be considered as a long term investment. Social Media isn’t a passing fad! It’s getting bigger and more complicated. If you do not have the time or experience to make it work for you, hire someone. How not to fail on Social Media starts now.

1. Before you begin. You may want a Facebook Page, Twitter or Instagram account because every other business has one and you may have a personal account on one of these platforms.

We need to ask ourselves a couple of questions.

What is the problem you are trying to solve for your customers?

What is the outcome of your Social Media campaign?

2. You are on too many platforms and not strong in any.  Social Media is big business and with so many platforms to choose from and many more on the way up, you need to decide where to focus your efforts. It may mean your small business is only on Facebook. It may mean you decide Facebook and Instagram is better for your business. Whichever you choose – make it stick and work at it. Remember, Social takes time, to build a following, build rapport and relationships. Only then can you generate leads that then become sales.

3. Not knowing your Audience. Who really is your audience? Are they Millennials    (Gen Y) 35 – 40 or 45 -55 year bracket? Do you know where your audience spends most of their social time? Do they use Social? What does my audience want? Once you have answered these questions you can better plan your Social Media Campaign directed to your audience for maximum engagement.

4. Are you measuring your Social Media Campaign?  What is your outcome for using Social Media? Page likes? More Followers? Exposure? Lead Generation? More Sales? Time Specific? Let us assume our outcome is to increase our followers by 20% in 60 days. What plans have you drawn up to accomplish this?  How often will you post? What content will you share? What level of engagement and participation will you be involved in? Will you do all the work or outsource? What is your budget for this? Will it work with existing advertising?

5. No Plan.  Most of us can set up a Facebook page, after all Facebook has 1.2 Billion active users. It is also quite easy to set up Twitter, Instagram and Google+. However to do it right for a small business is a little more challenging. Most small businesses are using the above mentioned platforms the same way they use their personal pages. This is definitely setting ourselves us for failure. To give you an example, it takes many “actual hours” to get real, organic growth on Social. The old saying, ” if I build it, they will come”.Doesn’t work and isn’t accurate all.

6. Website ready. Most small businesses today have a website and that’s great. However, how many of these websites are mobile responsive? Are easy enough to navigate? Load quickly? Have a way for customers to easily contact you? Social Media is about engaging your audience. If your doing social right, your audience will head to your website looking for more information and possibly to make a purchase. Imagine the frustration of a new lead (one of your followers – your audience) heading to your website, using their smart phone, and the following happens. . .website takes too long to load -Fail –  if it loads quick it looks funny because it doesn’t look right on the smart phone -Fail – then they spend a minute or so looking for your contact number or sign up page – Fail

Now think for a moment. . . has this ever happened to you? and what did you do?

If you want to Grow your business with digital and social media marketing, we’d be more than happy to work with you.

Social Media Tips to Establish your Brand

Social Media Tips to Establish your Brand

Here are some Social Media Tips to Establish your Brand

Ok, so you’ve heard all the HYPE and all the BUZZ words around the importance of Social Media to any business, large or small.

So we though we’d let you all know , in simple terms how Social Media can “really” help your Brand or Business.

1. Uniform. NO, not what you or your staff wear. Although that may be important in some ways. But what we are talking about is your business image. What your business is telling the world through the following items that we suggest should be uniformed.  If your business has a logo, business card, particular colours and fonts, we suggest so too should your Social Media.

Why? It makes it easier for your customers and future customers to identity you amongst all the Social Media noise.

2. Real Estate. NO, not the building you lease or own. We’re talking about the platforms or channels you use. You and I don’t own Facebook, YouTube or Twitter. We are merely using their real estate, for FREE for now. So be prepared for change and constant change. The likes of Facebook have already made some real changes to Business use of Facebook, some aren’t happy about it, but guess what? It’s not ours, so carry on. This is why your realestate is far more important to your business than any Facebook Fan Page or Twitter account.

Why? Because your website is yours! Simple. Sure you pay for a domain name, hosting and design work. You may even pay some one like us, 2 Sons, to maintain and create content for it. But it’s still yours to change when you like, update or close down if your want. So here’s our TIP  : Look after it. Understand it’s future value to your business and Maintain it. People know when a website has been untouched for a while and that reflects poorly on you and your business.

3. Learn. Learning how to effectively use a platform or channel can be challenging and time consuming. Too often we see SME trying to tackle 2 or 3 different platforms and fail in all of them. You need to choose where you will be and how to use it.

Why? Because your audience ins’t silly. They can tell very quickly how good a brand is by the way they use social media. Your commitment to your audience is most important. Don’t be caught half doing your social. Remember this quote;  Only do half the work, if you are happy with half the results.

5. Hire Experts. If you don’t have the time, knowledge or resources to do a great job of your social, hire someone. Establish your brand on Social Media should be front of mind.

Why?  For the same reason you hire an accountant, tradesman, and other staff. Sure you can do it. But can you do it effectively, efficiently and maintain it constantly? Take a moment. As a business owner you know what it cost your business to do the books each month or quarter. You definitely know what it cost you to run your business. So consider that cost of hiring a Social Media Manager who can look after all your Digital and Social Media Marketing tasks for you, and allow you the time to focus on the business of making money.

6. Respect and Respond.  The world is a complicated place. And according to Facebook 1.2 Billion of us are on Facebook. That means when your audience engages you on social media, you need to respect their views and respond.

Why?  Because by default you are public property. Remember Point 2. Real Estate. you’re on someone else’s property. So you need to learn to deal directly with the good, bad and ugly. We are of the view that every comment deserves a response. It’s quick and easy to do. So those brands not doing it; clearly don’t appreciate their audience enough to post a simple “thank you all for todays comments”. Simple right. This in turn will lead to more engagement.

Always work on – Establish your brand on Social Media – We appreciate that your days are long and we understand you need to do what you know best. Your Business!

So let us do what we know best – Digital and Social Media Marketing.

We will set up, maintain and manage your Social Media and ensure you are not missing out on the Growth Potential from Social Media.

Martial arts and gym digital and social media marketing for growth

Martial arts and gym digital and social media marketing for growth

We’ve helped gyms and martial arts schools get more members by using our digital and social media marketing strategies.

We were approach by a new local Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gym owner seeking to get new members to register their interest to the gym before it opened. The time frame we were given was 3 months. After speaking at length and learning all we could about their business model and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, we presented our digital and social media marketing strategy.

Below are the areas we focused on.

Instagram Marketing

We created their Instagram business account making sure all relevant information was included. We followed all local Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms that are part of this global franchise both locally and internationally.

Note: The goal was not to gain “likes” the goal is to gain local interest from a targeted audience and convert them to new enquiries that then turned into new members. Our client understood that #LikesDontEqualSales

Facebook Marketing

Similar to Instagram, we set up their Facebook Business Page and linked both Facebook and Instagram accounts. With their Facebook account we went one step further and created a Private Facebook Group for future students.

Google Marketing

A digital marketing strategy is incomplete without adding a Google My Business Page to the plan. We set up their My Business page which is Free and a great way to get reviews and testimonials. Part of the setting up a Google My Business Account is requesting verification. This is done by requesting a verification code which is sent out via the post in the form of a postcard. Once the account was verified, we were able to make edits such as opening hours, add logos and images.

Social Media Marketing Content

Because this gym was a franchise the content we could create and share on social media had to be curated in a certain way and certain images could not be used. So we set out with the brief in mind and began the process of creating 30 days worth of content in preparation to begin sharing it on all social media platforms.

Digital Marketing and Customer Service

The content posting schedule we outlined in our marketing strategy included posting 5 times per week. Monday to Friday. We responded and replied to all comments on all platforms and also posted on Google My Business Page. Additionally, we also included our Customer Service. This meant,  that all DM (Direct Messages) or online enquiries were attended to 7 days per week. This allowed the gym owner to continue to focus on completing the gym refurbishment, all admin and setting up of the gym.

New gyms enquiries and students memberships

Within the first 30 days we received over 50 DM’s on Instagram and 15 Facebook enquiries. This lead to 10 Free Trials being taken up.

In the second month both Facebook and Instagram accounts had grown well over 500 followers and the enquiries and DM’s continued. People were interested about the Free Trials, time tables and Membership costs.

By the third month and two weeks before opening, the gym had secured 50 new paid members, and 20 Free Trials were booked in.

UGC – User Generated Content & Check Ins

Another important part of our digital and social media marketing strategy was asking members for two things. Their content and their participation in “Ckecking In” to the gym.

Both these allowed the gym to gain more reach, engagement and ultimately more members.

Note: we have worked with Jeremy, who owns and operated Gracie Barra Wetherill Park & Gracie Barra Castle Hill for well over 3 years. We’ve helped his first gym, Wetherill Park succeed to a level that he then opened his Castle Hill gym in the midst of Covid-19.

If you want to Grow your gym or martial arts school with digital and social media marketing, we’d be more than happy to work with you.

How much you should invest in marketing

How much you should invest in marketing

How much you should invest in marketing? It’s critical that you have a marketing plan that includes social media & search engine optimisation.

We came across this great article published on smartcompany.com.au, written by Michelle Gamble and we’ve decided to share the key take aways. how much should you invest or what’s left over once all your other business expenses are covered.

What every business should invest in regardless of what stage your business is at, it’s critical that you have a marketing plan and also strong branding.

Strategy and skills

Whether you create your own marketing plan or hire an expert to help you, you are less likely to waste precious marketing dollars if you’ve researched the various options, the costs involved and likely results.  You’ll also be more successful if you have an experienced marketer to implement your plan.  Whether you hire internally or outsource, you need to ensure that your plan gets executed and executed well.

A great first impression

Creating a strong first impression both online and offline is critical. Your brand says a lot about your business and is the first chance you have to “engage” your target market.

Poorly designed logo and website can make it impossible for you to attract new customers.

What you can expect for what you spend

Before you set your mind on how much money you’re willing to invest to grow your business, let me show you how far your budget will get you in the real world:

  • less than $2000 – are you really serious about being in business?

With this budget, maybe you need to rethink whether you believe in your business? it’s very difficult to get anything for less than $2000. If you are not willing to invest at least this amount you need to question how much faith you have in your business and your commitment to grow.

  • $2000 – you better be a marketing ninja yourself and have a lot of time on your hands.

You’ll need some considerable marketing, design and technical skills yourself.

$2000 might get you:

– some business cards without search engine optimisation.

– marketing smarts and online skills to achieve much from a budget of this size.

  • $2000 – $5000 – enough to get you looking good but not the eyeballs to appreciate it.

A budget of $2000 – $5000 will get you noticed.  a budget of this size will get you:

– a cheap corporate identity

– a simple brochure-style website

– search, and a fair amount of time to manage the marketing yourself.

  • $5000 – $10,000 – a small amount of advertising and a good set-up for building and communicating to your database

A budget of this size will get you some smart marketing tools and a little left over to test some advertising:

– Perhaps a more complex website. one with perhaps a good content management system and customer relationship management (crm) system.

– Search engine optimisation and limited search engine marketing which you would need to manage yourself

– Some consulting help to assist with product development, low cost marketing ideas and pr and marketing coaching

– A social media presence and perhaps a small amount of money to test some social media advertising.

a small budget should be focussed on investing in some good web-based online marketing tools and some expert help on low cost marketing.

  • $10,000 – $20,000 – you can start testing some advertising tactics

some smart marketing tools and a very limited amount of marketing.

  • $20,000 – $50,000 – you can get start to run some focused consistent marketing campaigns

some smart marketing tools and some co run a marketing campaign in one medium.

  • $50,000 – $100,000 – you’re serious about growth and gaining strong brand awareness and value for your investments.
